A Friend in Need is a Friend Indeed Completing Story
Once upon a time, there lived two friends in a village. They shared such a strong bond that people used to consider them the role models of true friendship. They were always seen together, and they both loved each other very much. They had sworn to help each other in need. The two best friends were fond of traveling. So, one day, they decided to travel again. On their way, they came across a dense forest. One of the travelers said that this forest had many wild bears roaming around and they should get out of the forest before sunset. The second friend patted the first friend’s shoulders and said that whatever danger may come ahead, he would always help him in need. But the travel did not go as planned, and the friends got lost in the forest.
The sun had set and the two were still lost in the forest. It was getting dark and they both started looking for a safe shelter so that they can find their way back after the sun rose. They were walking, and then suddenly a wild bear appeared in front of them. It looked ferocious and hungry. Seeing his friend's near death, the first friend only thought of himself and hurriedly climbed onto the high branch of a long tree. The second friend was truly noble and feared for both of their lives. But seeing that his friend had climbed before him, he was very disheartened. He went in front of the tree and requested that his other friend help him climb the tree, as the bear was just taking its time to attack. He shouted, "Help me, my friend, as I need you. You know that I do not know how to climb a tree." The other friend replied heartlessly, "Sorry, my friend. The bear is near and can attack at any time. If I climb down to help you climb up, then I might get caught by it."
Facing the betrayal, his heart shattered into pieces. But it clicked in his mind that he had to survive. Suddenly he remembered that the bears do not eat rotten/dead people. So he lay down on the ground and breathed as slowly as possible. The bear came near, sniffed his body thoroughly and thought him to be dead. Thus he lost interest and after waiting a while, he went away in another direction. The second friend slowly rose from the ground and felt lucky to be alive. The betrayer's friend came down because he felt safe and was shocked that the other one had survived without a scratch.
The betrayer had no remorse and without even checking if his friend was okay, he asked, "Hey, what did the bear say into your ears?" The other friend said, "The bear gave me a piece of advice that we should never consider betrayers as our friends and be aware of them." Hearing this, the betrayer's friend, who abandoned his true friend in need, felt very guilty. Thus, the other one understood that the ones who help you in your time of need and danger are your true friends.
